Biography
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was born into a family of fame and prestige: the Kennedy’s. He is the nephew of former president John Kennedy and son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy. He learned to use his voice by being one of eleven children by Robert and Ethel. Growing up the family spent a lot of times outdoors doing numerous activities. He could have done many things in his life but he has chosen to fight for the environment and everyone’s right to clean water and air. Robert F. Kennedy is dedicated to making the environment safe. His reputation as a great defender of the environment stems from the many legal actions he has took to make the environment better. He is a graduate of Harvard University. He studied at the London School of Economics and received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He also received a Masters Degree in Environmental Law from Pace University. He has been part of some incredible battles fighting for the environment. He helped Riverkeeper to restore the Hudson River. That single achievement helped spawn many new environmental organizations across the globe. He has also been involved with suing treatment plants to force compliance with the Clean Water act. Robert is involved with many hardworking efforts to help ensure that the environment gets better. He serves as Chief Prosecuting Attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper and President of the Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law’s Environmental litigation clinic. He is the co-host of Ring of Fire on Air America Radio. He is also credited with leading the fight to protect New York’s water supply. He is an incredible hero for the fight towards a better environment.

Kelley Alley
Kelley Alley is director of the Anthropology program at Auburn University. She is an accomplished scholar as she received her B.S. from Cornell University and Ph. D. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Just like Robert F Kennedy Jr. environmental safety is very important. She has carried out research all over the world in particular India stresses key environmental issues. Her current interests are to write a book to inform society about public litigation in India that describes how citizens use the courts to enter policy and decision making on environmental issues.

Tuesday March 13, 2007
1. 3:30 P.M. to 3:40 p.m. at ENV ROOM 130 you will have Opening Remarks followed by Panel Discussion on Rainwater Harvesting with speaker Irene J. Klaver who is Director of Waterways and the UNT Philosophy of Water Project.
2. 3:40 P.M. to 4:35 p.m. the event will be North Texas drought and Conservation with Rodney Love who is owner of Tierra Designs and Rainwater Harvesting/Waterwise landscaping in Denton Texas.
3. 4:35 P.M. to 5:30 p.m. the topic will be the Advantages of Rainwater Harvesting with Richard Heinichen. He is the owner of Richard’s Rainwater. The first company licensed to bottle rainwater in America and the Mayor of Tanktown, Dipping Springs, Texas.
4. 7:00 P.M. at Art in room 221 the topic will be new installation piece: Rainmakers workshop with Daniel Bozhkov. He is faculty at the Yale University of Art School Columbia University, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
5. 9:00 P. M. in the ENV room 130 the event will be Philosophy in Film Series: Water by Deepa Mehta.

Wednesday March 14, 2007
1. 9:00 AM at ENV 115 with Kelly Alley President of the Anthropology and Environment section of the American Anthropology Association and Director of the Anthropology program at Auburn University.
2. 10: 00 A.M. at ENV 120 the topic is Water Concerns in South Asia: A Broad Survey of the Water Concerns of Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, & Bangladesh with Ramaswamy R. Iyer. He is former Secretary for Water, Govt. of INDIA; Honorary Research Professor, Center for policy research, New Delhi.
3. 12:00 PM at ENV 320 is the Luncheon.
4. 1:00 PM at ENV 130 the event is PANEL DISCUSSION
River Cultures--Ecological Futures with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and John Mclachlan.
5. 3:00 PM at ENV Atrium the event will be reception with live music. The music will be from Trio Montuno.
6. 3:00 P.M. at the ENV the event will be Photography exhibit: Water on the edge six photographers with Dorinth Doherty of UNT.
7. 5:00 PM at the Art Gallery with Daniel Bozhkov recent works and underground works and underground works.
8. 8:00 P.M. in the University Lyceum the will be Distinguished speakers. Note the event is free to UNT student but $10.00 for the public. One of the speakers will be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Thursday March 15, 2007
1. 9:30 A.M. to 10:50 A.M at ENV 130 the event will be Mississippi and Living with Great Rivers:Floods, the Birth of Civilizations, and Contemporary Disasters. The speaker will be Richard Sparks Director of Research at National Great Rivers Research and Education center.
2. 12:00 P.M. the event will be the Luncheon.

Come and be apart of the Waterways 2007


Dateline- March 13, 2007- If you ever felt like you were not doing enough to help the environment that surrounds now is the time to make a stand. Come and support the brilliant effort of the Waterways 2007. The conference will be held from March 13 through March 15 2007.

One of the speakers will be the great Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
You may ask yourself what is waterways, and the answer is that it is a conference to bring scientists, philosophers, artists, water managers, and people like me and you together to discuss crucial water issues and to help bring awareness to water basin issues. You can be apart of this incredible experience which is located at the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building, located on the northwest corner of Avenue C and West Mulberry, UNT campus.

This is the second conference by Waterways 2007. The focus of the conference this year is river basins, specifically Gnaga-Brahmaputra Meghna (GBM) basin. The GBM basin is hugely populated and its borders are surrounded by a lot of water. It is imperative that the GBM basin is informed on the many important factors dealing with water use. The water managers need to need to get input from the population. The conference is free and open to the public.

There will be several informative speakers at the conference including Honorary Research Professor Ramaswamy R. Iyer. The mission of the conference is approach water issues at the interface of cultural, social, political, scientific analyses.

One of the main focuses is the GBM and at the conference the speakers will discuss the philosophy of the water issues. Some of the issues include water scarcity, quantity and quality of reserves, and cultural perceptions of water. Waterways are working to offer new approaches for comprehending the relationship between humans, natural ecosystems, and water.
